Have you noticed it’s become harder to get a table at Radicato on a Saturday night? Or maybe you’ve found yourself in traffic on Main Street – in the off-season? If you’re a longtime Breck resident and you feel like you have a bit less elbowroom than you used to, you’re not imagining things.
Now, don’t get me wrong. Breck definitely isn’t overcrowded. With just under full time, year round 5,000 residents, it still has that quaint, mountain town vibe that made us all want to move here decades ago. So, what’s with the population boom? Aside from the fact that it looks like the page out of a storybook, Breckenridge has so much to offer I’m going to have a hard time squeezing it all into one blog post.
Visitors who come here on their winter ski trips inevitably get swept up in the idyllic winter wonderland that defines Breckenridge. We see thousands of tourists come through our mountain town and dream about snatching up a piece of Summit County real estate for themselves. Over the years, many of them do!
For a town that spans only a smidge over five square miles, Breck has a ton of fantastic shops, boutiques, bars and restaurants – almost 300, in fact! On Main Street alone you’ll find crepes, Italian food, ice cream, coffee, Irish pubs, vegetarian grub – you name it. Breckenridge Brewery is also nestled in the heart of downtown – a must-stop after a day on the slopes.
One of the things I love most about living in Breck is the close sense of community. Our town hosts countless events year round, including the International Snow Sculpture Championship, Ullr Fest, Women’s Ski Week, Breckenridge Summer Beer Fest, Breckenridge International Festival of Arts, incredible concerts, and so many more.
As the Baby Boomer generation begins to look towards retirement, we can expect another influx of residents to our sleepy mountain town. Breckenridge is a great place to retire because it’s laid back, walkable, safe, and bicycle friendly. It also presents plenty of opportunities for staying active late in life!
If you’ve been thinking about buying a home in Breckenridge, this is the sign you’ve been waiting for. When we work together, investing in a gorgeous slice of Summit County real estate isn’t as daunting as you may think. Not only will you get to enjoy year round outdoor recreation, fabulous shopping and dining and community events galore, you might end up with some extra cash in your pocket should you decide to sell a few years down the road.
If you’re ready to begin your home search, give me a call. I’m passionate about helping others discover what I love so much about living in Breck. I look forward to speaking with you!
