Best Areas of Breckenridge to Stay for Ski Season

Out of all the gorgeous spots to enjoy winter in Colorado, you picked Breckenridge. Congrats! You definitely made the right choice. Now that you’ve settled on a destination for your ski season getaway, it’s time to pick the perfect neighborhood. For a small mountain town, there are several distinct areas of Breckenridge to stay in. They’re all beautiful, but each has its own unique vibe. Whether you’re single and ready to mingle or a family in search of the best sledding hill, you’ve come to the right place.

Best Areas of Breckenridge to Stay for Singles

If you’re looking for a nice balance of outdoorsy fun and happening nightlife, you’ve come to the right place. Breckenridge offers singles a little bit of everything. When searching for a seasonal rental in Breckenridge, check out the western downtown core. It’s near the Breckenridge Gondola, which takes you to the base of Peak 8, and walking distance to all of the bars, restaurants, and clubs. Ollie’s Pub & Grub has a great selection of craft beers and the absolute best burgers in town. And, no visit to Breck is complete without a trip to The Motherloaded Tavern, which has a daily happy hour and live music on the weekends.

Best Areas of Breckenridge to Stay for Families

Families visiting Breckenridge for ski season should look for a rental on the eastern side of downtown along High Street. The neighborhood is walking distance to the sledding hill at Carter Park and a super quick drive to the Mountain Top Children’s Museum. When you’re ready to thaw your frozen bones, head over to the Breckenridge Rec Center to splash in the pool. Or, swap your skis for skates and zip around at the ice arena. When it’s time to eat, head over to Downstairs at Eric’s – a family-friendly sports bar with arcade games.

Best Areas of Breckenridge to Stay for Shopping and Dining

In addition to fabulous outdoor recreation, Breckenridge boasts excellent shopping, restaurants, and bars. For those who want to hit the town, I recommend staying in the 4 O’clock Road/Sawmill Road area. The two streets shoot off westward from downtown. A quick walk across the river spits you out on the heart of Main Street where you’ll find coffee, crepes, cocktails, and everything in between. I highly recommend Aurum Food & Wine on Ridge Street for dinner and drinks.

Best Areas of Breckenridge to Stay for Skiing

It goes without saying that winter sports are the main attraction in Breckenridge, but I’ll say it anyway. There’s no better place in the Rockies for skiing and snowboarding! If you plan to spend most of your time on the mountain, I highly recommend staying on Peak 8. It’s a great central location near the lifts and shuttles, and it’s still close to downtown. A lot of the larger homes in Breckenridge are perched on Peak 8, which are perfect to share with a group or split between a couple of families. These rentals tend to disappear quickly; talk to a luxury realtor in Summit County to be the first to know when new properties become available.

Where Will You Stay in Breckenridge for Ski Season?

Many of the seasonal rentals in Breckenridge are snatched up by the end of September. When renting a home for the season isn’t an option, check Airbnb or VRBO for weekly stays. If you’re looking for a luxury property, connect with my friends at River Ridge Rentals in Breckenridge. They have amazing high-end homes for families, friends, and corporate groups. Just keep in mind; they require renters to be at least 25 years old.

Are you looking for a place to stay in Breckenridge for ski season? The market is really competitive, so it helps to have a real estate agent on your side. I would consider it an honor to help you find a place to enjoy the most beautiful time of year in Summit County. Give me a call at 970-333-0082 to see how I can help!
